Job Summary and Key Accountabilities:
Swim Instructor is a key member of the Aquatics team that provides group and private swim lessons for program participants that adheres to YMCA standards for curriculum, instructional quality, safety, certifications and other requirements. This includes ensuring an outstanding experience for each program participant and creating safe, welcoming environment that ensures the physical and emotional well-being of program participants, members and guests.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Effectively implements YMCA swim curricula for various levels and populations depending on class needs as outlined by the standards of the YMCA.
- Prepares progressive lesson plans to enhance the experience of program participants.
- Prepares reports and maintains records, including attendance records, skills sheets, progress reports, etc.
- Enforces aquatic rules and policies by maintaining constant surveillance of class participants.
- Acts as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness in pool area and provides backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies and crowd control.
- Reports injuries and completes required forms.
- Sets up facility or equipment, and stores equipment upon completion of class. Immediately notifies supervisor of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool.
- Attends all in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor or center leadership.
- Maintains job-related certifications and documents completion of certifications in the HR information system
- Supports the mission and vision of the YMCA as assigned
- Provides leadership to other team members (Level 3)

Requirements:

- Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person.

The Youth Development Instructor (YEI) is responsible for implementing and adapting a wide variety of enrichment activities for grades K-8 in a before or after school program setting. The YDI plays a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, interactive and enriching program experience while ensuring the safety and security of all program participants.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Creates a safe, supportive, interactive and engaging environment for youth that is characterized by teamwork, camaraderie and inclusiveness. This includes demonstrating an appreciation of the youths’ efforts and accomplishments and providing assistance and encouragement to program participants when needed.
- Provides effective supervision of youth that is age-appropriate, considers diverse abilities and interests and meets program quality, safety and policy requirements.
- Positively interacts with youth, parents/guardians and other team members to create a respectful, warm, supportive environment. Models self-control, respect and cooperation to teens and other team members. Utilizes youth arrival/departure ensure to share information with parents/guardians and to build relationships.
- Prepares lesson plans on a daily and/or weekly basis outlining program activities, ensures materials and supplies are available and ready for daily program activities, and ensures all program areas and supplies are clean and well maintained regularly.

The Inclusion Aide is responsible for supporting and assisting one or more individuals who have a disability and are enrolled in Y programs to promote participation in program activities and independence to the fullest extent possible. The Inclusion Aide serves as a professional role model for our children by leading through example and guiding children through activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors and create a positive classroom experience.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Promotes the YMCA and provides outstanding customer service by creating an outstanding experience for children, parents and families.
- Modifies activities, rules, equipment, and/or supplies as needed to promote participation in program activities and independence to the fullest extent possible. Maintains the confidentiality of information pertaining to the individual(s) that they are assigned to support.
- Modifies classroom activities for their assigned individual as may be needed, including but not limited to, arts and crafts, sports, social recreation, small group learning and other classroom guided activities.
- Teaches socially acceptable behaviors to childern by serving as a role model and by using age-appropriate positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies. Implements individualized behavior management plans, when necessary.
- Communicates consistently with supervisor, classroom teacher team members to keep abreast of classroom activities and schedule, in order to prepare for activity modifications. Will offer suggestions for modifications, if applicable.
- Communicates consistently with parents and the Manager of Inclusion through completion of a weekly summary of the individual’s participation.

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director for Weekend/Conference Groups, the Weekend Program staff will run or assist campfire or other evening programs.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service for guests. Light maintenance and kitchen duties as needed. Responsibilities: Follow all camp personnel policies. Work 8 a.m. Saturday to 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Work additional hours as necessary. Must be on time for all camp activities. Responsible for set up and take down of program area. Responsible for the overall safety of program area (s). Communicate with program participants of all ages (children & adults). Communicate properly with other staff and supervisors as needed. Attend staff training dates as necessary. Accept additional duties as requested.

Must be currently working towards or holding an associate or bachelors degree. Minimum of 1 year of college course work completed. Exceptions can be made to the aboce if applicant is otherwise qualified. Must have customer service experience. Be able to commit to 2 or more weekends per month. Experience in camp program areas: tobogganing, waterfront, archery, or crafts or trained in belaying or willingness to be trained on climbing tower, team course, waterfront (boats, non-guard duties),crafts, or archery.

Job Summary and Key Accountabilities:
Lifeguard is a key member of the YMCA Aquatics team responsible for monitoring swimming areas and providing assistance and protection to users of the pool and aquatic facility as outlined under the standards of the YMCA. This includes providing a high level of customer service at all times and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment that ensures the physical and emotional well-being of members and guests.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Provides a high-level of customer service to members, program participants and guests at all times
- Supervises and guards the pool and aquatic facility and ensures participants adhere to all YMCA aquatic guidelines and procedures.
- Examines injured persons and administers first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment.
- Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
- Contacts emergency medical personal in case of serious injury.

- Attends all in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor or center leadership team.

YMCA Camp Duncan
YMCA Camp Duncan is located about an hour northwest of Chicago on beautiful Fish Lake. Camp Duncan is approximately 300 acres and operates a Day Camp, Overnight Camp, and Group Services Department. Camp Duncan sits on a lake with boats and a blob, archery, climbing tower, high ropes course/zipline, hiking trails, campfires, teams course, soccer fields, basketball courts, gaga pits, and so much more!
If you are looking for a fun and exciting experience, Camp Duncan is the place for you. Interning at Camp Duncan will give you a look at how a year round camp operation functions, how to plan and host customer groups, and teach you over 25 outdoor education classes and recreation programs. The Group Services Department serves around 20,000 diverse customers a year.
Job Summary:
The Group Services Internship in the Spring 2019 Semester (February 25 through June 7) will provide employees with a well-rounded, paid internship experience which focuses on all aspects of a year round camp. Training will include: how to teach outdoor education, facilitate classes, risk management, marketing, budget, and customer service. Ideal candidates will be committed, energetic, and enthusiastic individuals that are working toward a degree in Parks & Recreations or a related field.
Being flexible to work various hours which are dependent on customer needs is very important. Some days start very early, and some run late. Interns must live on the camp property for the internship. Room and board is provided at Camp Duncan, in addition to a stipend.

Job Summary:
Perform general maintenance to keep all facilities, grounds and equipment in safe working order.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test equipment and machinery to diagnose malfunctions and detect problems
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance such as inspecting motors, belts, replacing filters, checking fluid levels and maintaining proper pool chemical levels

Scope of Responsibilities:
- Provides a high-level of customer service to members, program participants and guests at all times
- Supervises and guards the pool and aquatic facility and ensures participants adhere to all YMCA aquatic guidelines and procedures.
- Examines injured persons and administers first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training and medical supplies and equipment.
- Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
- Contacts emergency medical personal in case of serious injury.
- Actively participates in obtaining further water safety certifications.
- Attends all in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor or center leadership team.
- Supports the mission and vision as assigned.
- Maintains job-related certifications and documents completion of certifications in the HR information system

Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
- Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
- Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
- Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
- Completing all child abuse prevention training as required

Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must successfully complete the YMCA’s Aquatics Academy training program resulting in certification or have current YMCA or American Red Cross certification as well as current First Aid, AED, CPR and Oxygen Administration certifications.
- Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person and meet other physical requirements required for job certification.
- Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers.
- Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid effectively.

Job Summary
The Front Desk Customer Service staff will interact with the members and up hold the member experience standards. They will be the daily point of contact for members, determining their needs and offering solutions to meet these needs. They will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to Y members, program participants and guest.
Scope and Responsibilities:

Greet and welcome members.

Actively interact and engage with members and prospects to determine needs; directing to the appropriate lead (i.e. Membership Experience Director, Membership Experience Supervisor, Program Director, etc) when necessary.

Handle member requests and questions; problem solving.

Gather and record member data in member profiles.

Facilitate member to member engagement.

Provides information and assistance related to membership rates, programs, services, scholarships and other Y amenities.

Prepares member records and issues membership ID cards and handles all. registration/enrollment transactions.

Assist Member Experience Supervisor with membership business and administrative tasks.

Assist supervisor in sales acquisition activities as assigned.
