The YMCA is hiring multiple Art and Science Specialty Camp Instructors for multiple locations in the city of Chicago for Summer 2023
Art and Science Specialty Instructor provides leadership and planning of specialty STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) programs for different youth between the ages of 6-13 with hands-on active learning to promote critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, and communication.
Salary range $15.90-$16.50 per hour
This is a mobile position, with multiple opening for instructors to run camps at YMCA centers and camp sites in and around Chicago, including:
- Lake View YMCA
- South Side YMCA
- McCormick YMCA
- Kelly Hall YMCA
- Rauner YMCA
- Elmhurst YMCA (in Elmhurst, IL)

Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency; completion of higher education coursework or degrees strongly preferred, especially within the science, technology, engineering, art, or math fields
- Must have prior experience working with youth; previous experience in a camp setting strongly preferred
- Able to carry 50+ lbs
- Previous experience facilitating art or science youth programs
- Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide a high-quality of instruction using age-appropriate practices.
Child Abuse Prevention
Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
- Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
- Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
- Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
- Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
