    Job Summary:

     

    Under the direct supervision of the Program Director for Weekend/Conference Groups, the Weekend Program staff will run or assist campfire or other evening programs.

     

    Scope of Responsibilities:

     

    Provide excellent customer service for guests. Light maintenance and kitchen duties as needed. Responsibilities: Follow all camp personnel policies. Work 8 a.m. Saturday to 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Work additional hours as necessary. Must be on time for all camp activities. Responsible for set up and take down of program area. Responsible for the overall safety of program area (s). Communicate with program participants of all ages (children & adults). Communicate properly with other staff and supervisors as needed. Attend staff training dates as necessary. Accept additional duties as requested.

     

    Child Abuse Prevention:

     

    Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

    • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
    • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
    • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
    • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required

Job responsibilities may include implementing program modifications for persons with cognitive, behavioral or physical disabilities, including but not limited to the injection of medical glucagon to members with Type 1 diabetes in emergency situations. Appropriate training and development will be provided to YMCA team members based on your role and responsibilities.

     

    Requirements:

     

    Must be currently working towards or holding an associate or bachelors degree.  Minimum of 1 year of college course work completed.  Exceptions can be made to the aboce if applicant is otherwise qualified.  Must have customer service experience.  Be able to commit to 2 or more weekends per month.  Experience in camp program areas: tobogganing, waterfront, archery, or crafts or trained in belaying or willingness to be trained on climbing tower, team course, waterfront (boats, non-guard duties),crafts, or archery.
