  • Responsibilities & Requirements

    Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Camp Coordinator and Program Director, Program Specialists will prove hands on support to the day to day camp operations with specific responsibilities to the following areas and programs: Teen Leadership (2), Adventure Trips (2), Archery, Mountain Biking, High Adventure/Ropes Course Operation, Arts & Crafts, and Sports.


    General Responsibilities

    • Ensure the safety of all campers and staff.
    • Establish positive relationships with each camper and staff in your program area.
    • Help campers and other staff members grow in Mind, Body and Spirit.
    • Serve as a role model for campers and other staff members.
    • Take advantage of teachable moments each day, to help campers learn character values such as Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.
    • Provide a positive, exciting and fun environment for all campers.
    • Promote and demonstrate stewardship towards the land.
    • Attend staff meetings to discuss program plans, give input and voice concerns.


    Specific Responsibilities

    • Using an appropriate lesson base, help to train general counselors on expectations of program areas with all age groups.
    • Assist in program specific area daily.
    • Be involved in all aspects of camp life while not running specific program during skill rotations.
    • Provide coverage and share cabin management responsibilities with co-counselor.
    • Serve as a positive role model for staff and campers; set an example of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
    • Provide leadership and assistance to counselors in specific program areas.
    • Provide an inventory, communicate with Program Director on specific needs of the program, and assist counselors in equipment upkeep & maintenance.
    • Maintain high levels of safety standards in your program area nad enforce all rules for campers and staff.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and refrain from behavior that is detrimental to the staff team and staff morale. Communication is key!
    • Deal with any staff management issues promptly – You are committing to report any staff issues, equipment problems, unsafe conditions to the Camp Director immediately. You are expected to not ask staff to do anything that you would not do yourself.
