Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Food Aide assists in the general operation of the food service program in the preparation and serving of meals.
Scope of Responsibilities:
maintain written inventory of food, equipment, and supplies; check-in food supplies delivered at site; order food at the request of the Site Director; reconstitute and prepare catered foods; prepare food for children and staff on site; assist teacher in introducing new and special foods to children; responsible for planning and implementing food experience for children once a week and for teaching parents how to plan menus and snacks; maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen; assist teachers interpreting goals of food programs to parents; maintain cleanliness and sanitation of serving/eating utensils and equipment; other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent work/education experience. Must meet Department of Health requirements. Must have knowledge and experience of quantity food preparation. Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions. Food Sanitation Certificate must be earned where required.
